The Oil Cleansing Method: A Better Way to Wash Your Face
Share
Most of us were taught to wash our face by stripping away oil.
If you’ve struggled with breakouts, dryness, or skin that just won’t balance out, that approach may be working against you.
At Noble Skin Co., we focus on supporting the skin—not stripping it. One of the simplest ways to do that is through oil cleansing.
What is oil cleansing?
Oil cleansing is a gentle way to wash your face using oils instead of traditional cleansers.
It works because oil dissolves oil. The right oils help lift excess sebum, dirt, sunscreen, and buildup from the skin without disrupting its natural barrier.
Instead of leaving your skin tight or dry, your skin feels clean, calm, and balanced.
Who is it for?
Oil cleansing works well for all skin types, but it’s especially helpful if you have:
- Acne-prone or oily skin
- Hormonal breakouts
- Dry or flaky skin
- Sensitive or reactive skin
- Combination skin
If your skin feels stripped after washing, this is often a better approach.
How to oil cleanse
Start with dry skin. Apply 3–5 drops of serum to your hands and gently massage into dry skin for 30–60 seconds.
Steam and wipe. Wet a soft cloth with warm (not hot) water and lay it over your face for about 10–15 seconds. Then gently wipe away the oil.
Repeat if needed. If you wore makeup or sunscreen, you can repeat the wipe step.
Follow with toner and moisture. Apply a gentle toner, then finish with a small amount of tallow balm if your skin needs extra moisture.
Which serum should you use?
All of our serums can be used both as a daily treatment and as an oil cleanser—keeping your routine simple while still supporting your skin.
-
For acne-prone and oily skin:
Clear Skin Repair Serum
Glow Up Serum
These are formulated with lightweight, linoleic-rich oils that help balance sebum production, calm inflammation, and reduce congestion.
-
For dry, mature, or sensitive skin:
Golden Hour Serum
Glow & Brighten Serum
These provide deeper nourishment and help support hydration, elasticity, and overall skin resilience.
Each of these can be used both as a daily facial serum and as part of the oil cleansing method.
Why it works
When the skin is constantly stripped, it often overproduces oil to compensate. That’s where breakouts and imbalance can start.
Oil cleansing supports the skin barrier instead of disrupting it. Over time, many people notice calmer, more even skin.
Many of our customers switch to oil cleansing after struggling with conventional cleansers and find their skin becomes more balanced, less reactive, and easier to manage over time.
How often should you do it?
Most people oil cleanse 2–3 times per week. Some prefer to do it nightly, especially if they wear makeup or sunscreen.
Pay attention to your skin—it’s a better guide than any rule.
A different way to care for your skin
Oil cleansing is a slower, more intentional way to care for your skin. It’s simple, effective, and works with your body instead of against it.
If you’re not sure where to start, I’m always happy to help.
With care,
